The term ‘Physical Security Architect’ was first coined by and shared to me by a friend, which takes reference from the more commonly known role of ‘Business Architect’, defined as someone who:
- Interprets and contextualises strategy for operational needs
- Help bridge the gap between strategy and execution
- Synthesises and synergies the work of others drawing from disciplines such as business analysis, process management and operations
As a physical security professional for the past 5 years working in various aspects ranging from operations, design, audit and policy, I felt that this was especially applicable to the physical security industry, where the synergy between traditional roles such as security consultant and operations manager, as well as operations and technology, is still somewhat absent. The ideal Physical Security Architect should be cognizant in all areas, so as to deliver the optimal security solution.
Therefore, I will be sharing some of my thoughts here on a broad range of physical security topics, with key areas of interest being on innovation, ops-tech and outcome-based contracting.
